Dem

Before its appointment as an independent parish in 1969, the territory of Dem was part of the parishes of Orbacém and Gondar. Located in a valley at the foot of the Arga Mountain, it is worth climbing to the top, which offers an impressive view of Caminha, the Minho River and of Galiza. A traditionally festive place, its calendar is marked by festivities such as Senhor and S. Gonçalo, S. Silvestre and Nossa Senhora das Neves. This last one is also known as the Senhora da Serra Pilgrimage (“Our Lady of the Mountain”) and, every year, on August 4th and 5th, the celebrations have as their main stage the beautiful Senhora das Neves Chapel.
