Amares Oranges

The legend holds that the Amares Orange has its origins in China, and was later taken to Macau. It arrives in this region by the hands of our navigators, so it is intimately linked to the Portuguese Discoveries. We can say that the orange has adapted very well in our local lands, thanks to the climate, that has conferred it a fine peel and a delicious and succulent content. Its best season is from May to August, when it invades all kitchens, being savoured “au natural”, transformed into refreshment, used in regional sweets or served as an accompaniment to local specialties.
