The City The city of Fafe harmoniously combines its traditional features with modern dynamism. In historical and architectonical terms, it is famous for an impressive group of fine constructions dating from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, referred to as “brazilian” architecture. An unmistakable style, distinguished in the grand palaces, with wide façades, covered by multicoloured tiles, many doors, windows and balconies that display beautiful forged iron-work. The biggest symbol of this type of architecture is definitely the skylight placed on top of the buildings. A plus in this city are also its cultural spaces such as the Municipal Archive, the Library, the museums, the House of Culture and the "crown jewel" of the local culture, the Cine-Theatre of Fafe. Attention should be paid to the City Park, a place for leisure and equipped with various infrastructures, including the Multifunctional Pavilion capable of hosting the most diverse events. |
