N. Sra. de Antime Festivities
The pilgrimage in honour of Nossa Senhora de Antime, also known as “Mercy” or “Sun”, assumes itself as one of the largest and most popular local festivities, that currently coincide with the grand Fafe municipality festivals. The first reference of this festival dates back to the year 1736 and some researchers relate it to an ancient sun cult or fertility ritual. Occurring always on the second weekend of July, it presents a diverse program that embraces music, folklore and the illuminated march, saving a special moment for the procession.
