Interpretative Centre Maria da Fonte Set up in the emblematic António Lopes Square, where once probably existed the famous tavern of Maria Luísa Balaio (for many historians Maria da Fonte), it aims to preserve the memory of the symbol of a popular revolt that became a national revolution in 1846. More than its Identification, proposes to contribute to the demystification of this national figure and to clarify the genesis of the events that resulted in the riots that occurred in that year. The CIMF also aims to be an open space for artistic exploration, fostering partnerships with important institutions of knowledge, education and training. |
