The Village With an occupation that dates back to the Bronze Age, the relevance of this locality is very big having its charter been issued by the king D. Dinis in 1321, through which was ordered to build the Castle of Cerveira and where now stands the small village corresponding to the historic center. In this way, a new paradigm is defined in the history of the local people and, above all, of their identity. Here history and heritage go hand in hand. The gastronomy also rests on the historical roots of the population and leaves marks on the palate, with flavors between the river and the land. Highlight to the ‘debulho de sável’ (shad rice) and the deer D. Dinis style, besides the lamprey of the Minho river or the corn biscuits. From the hands of those who know, traditional handcrafts are still produced, especially linen weaving, wooden miniatures, copper and ceramic objects, among others. |
