Gil Eannes Ship Located in the old commercial dock of Viana do Castelo, Gil Eannes, the hospital ship that for decades gave support to the cod fishing fleet in Newfoundland and Greenland, was built in the Shipyards of the city between 1952 and 1955 and returned to its native land in 1998, to finally open its doors to visitors. Transformed into a Museological Nucleus and a Sea Centre, it is one of the most sought after spaces in the north of the country. |
